(JUNE 2013) – Metallica front-man James Hetfield joined Steve Black this weekend to co-host Envision Radio Networks^®’ The Chop Shop. Celebrating its tenth year of guitar greatness, The Chop Shop was the first radio show devoted exclusively to the guitar. Over 900 interviews later, The Chop Shop host Steve Black sits down with Hetfield at the Orion Festival that rocked Detroit this past June 8^th and 9^th.

At the festival, Steve Black spoke with Hetfield about the process of putting the event together. “It’s just another adventure for us to bring people closer to music,” Hetfield explained. Discussing the lineup, the Metallica front-man said, “We don’t want to focus on one type of music. We want to focus on good music, but focus on it being something at least edgy, something that moves people in a different way.” On the experience of playing live, Hetfield said, “Playing live for us has been the best drug on the planet.”

Hetfield also spoke to Black about Metallica’s upcoming trip to China. “Art and music… have no borders, so that’s why we do this, and that’s why we want to go to places like China,” said Hetfield. “Seeing fans in a new country for the first time is always amazing.”

Two new voting event options and a new voting widget offer stations more customization and help promote real-time listener engagement and interaction.

Majority Rules^™ now offers two new types of moderated listening events. Stations looking to take ‘Battle of the Bands’ digital will benefit from the Majority Rules^™ Two Song Single Voting Event. This new voting event option pits two songs against each other in a ballot box and lets the listeners decide which they want to hear.

For a longer voting event that reacts to listeners’ actions and votes in real-time, Majority Rules^™ Shuffle allows listeners to give feedback on a song in queue and decide whether the scheduled songs should play sooner, later, or never.

Majority Rules^™ is also serving up its music voting platform in new, smaller customizable widgets as an alternative to the full page view. The “Metal God” himself, Rob Halford from Judas Priest, recently graced the Hangar 19 airwaves with his presence to discuss a number of topics with host Cutter, including the band’s brand new live DVD Epitaph. He addressed the subject of future Judas Priest tour dates with some good news that will be pleasing to metal fans worldwide.

“There’s no way you can put the brakes on rock n’ roll. There’s always another stage to play somewhere in the world… We are just going to slow it down a little bit… There’s a lot more to come from Priest without a doubt.”

After being in metal for 40 years, Halford reflected on the one moment that stands out most for Judas Priest: “I always have to go right to the beginning. That day that we all received the one copy of our new record in the mail… It’s just a tremendous rush, because you feel this could be the moment…when you know that you have made something that could go away from your shores to other points around the world, and your music can touch people thousands of miles away… it’s just a blast.”

This coming weekend, Hangar 19 will welcome another metal legend Dave Mustaine of Megadeth. The metal veteran joined Hangar 19 to talk about all things Megadeth, including this year’s touring plans and the new album Super Collider. He says that the inspiration for the new collection came about naturally commenting, “You got to live life in between records to have something to write about, and man I have lived a lot of life.” The album finds Megadeth heading in a different direction and Mustaine acknowledges that he’s aware of the feedback sharing that “The people who have heard it… [said] you’re kind of taking a risk here.”
