(JUNE 2014) – It has been 20 years since The Country Oldies Show aired its first broadcast in 1994 on WYNY-FM/New York. The Country Oldies Show and Envision Networks® will celebrate this milestone with a special edition of the program, which will be available to all stations for FREE and broadcast on affiliate stations the week of July 21st.

“Ever since I grew up in Indiana, I was around country music,” said Steve Warren, Host of The Country Oldies Show. “Over the years, I’ve worked as a DJ at a dozen country stations. As the country music artists started getting younger, I felt that it was important to never let go of the heritage artists. So In 1994, in a sea of radio stations playing “Hot,” “Young” or “New” Country, the folks at WYNY in New York decided that putting an Oldies Show on Sunday couldn’t hurt. The show quickly became one of the top-rated weekend time slots. After WYNY, we distributed the show to a few other stations, and in the blink of an eye, here we are today, 20 years later, and our radio audiences have stuck with us all the way. They made the show a success. I just play the music”.

During the special three hour broadcast, host Steve Warren will revisit some of the classic songs that listeners have grown to love over the years and share some of his personal recollections of his favorite artists and songs with co-host Debbie Conner, who will also add her own memories. Steve and Debbie will be joined by some of the radio folks who have helped to influence the show, and they will hear from the affiliates who have carried the show worldwide over the past two decades.

Rounding out the celebration, a few longtime friends of The Country Oldies Show will stop by to share their memories and kudos on the 20th anniversary of the show including Janie Fricke, the Oak Ridge Boys, Steve Wariner and many more!

This special edition of The Country Oldies Show will be available for broadcast beginning Wednesday, July 23rd via internet download. Stations interested in signing up for the special should contact Hannah Rosenthal at 216-831-3761 or hannahr@envisionradio.com.
