(JULY 2013) – Envision Radio Networks®’ host, producer and national radio personality Steve Black has written his true life story of love, adventure, music, cancer, death, despair, tragedy and triumph while interacting with rock and roll royalty.
Steve and Sabrina Black have spent a combined 40 years on the radio, mainly in Detroit, Michigan. Sabrina was diagnosed with cancer on the way to their wedding in Hawaii in 2000, and passed away six years later.
Together they fought a very public, heart-wrenching battle with the disease, its financial wreckage, stress, pain and ultimately death.
During Sabrina’s illness, Steve found a way to take care of his wife and work from home by creating The Chop Shop Guitar Show, a syndicated radio show with his partners at Envision Radio Networks®. Based on the success of his new career path, Black has expanded his syndicated rock arsenal to include The Chop Shop Classic, Classic Rock Live with Pierre Robert and The Core with Meltdown.
Steve Black says, “From Black to Light is a very human story, one that could have happened to anyone of us. It’s a story about following your dreams, learning to love, dealing with loss and depression, and learning how to live all over again. What makes the story unique is the way it plays out, forever entwined with a wild cast of rock and roll icons.”
From Black to Light includes stories and interviews with Alice Cooper, Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd, Kiss), Chris Squire (Yes), Dave Grohl (Nirvana/Foo Fighters), Dave Murray (Iron Maiden), The Doors, Dream Theater, Frank Zappa, Gary Moore, Gene Simmons (Kiss), George Clinton (P-Funk), Sir George Martin (Beatles), Jack Douglass (Aerosmith), Joe Satriani, Kid Rock, Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Mick Jones (Foreigner), Paul O’Neill (Trans-Siberian Orchestra), Peter Frampton, Rik Emmett (Triumph), Sammy Hagar, Savatage, Slash, Steve Vai, Ted Nugent, Tom Morello, Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath), Tool and Zakk Wylde (BLS/Ozzy Osbourne).
The autobiography also includes stories of Ted Nugent borrowing and destroying Steve’s Jeep, why Joe Perry’s guitar work was replaced on an early Aerosmith album, Peter Frampton helping to save Steve’s radio career, Zakk Wylde taking a swing at Steve in his hotel room after a show, and numerous historical moments in rock history.
The book also contains excerpts from Sabrina’s diary and her final thoughts written just days before her death.
From Black to Light will go on sale August 1st with the pre-sale starting July 18, 2013 at www.chopshopradio.com. Press interested in a FREE digital copy for review should contact Steve Black at firstname.lastname@example.org or 248-941-7875 for download information.
